Get involved in YoungLives
There are many ways to get involved: mentor, committee member, financial partner, childcare volunteer and so much more. There is a place for YOU in YoungLives!
If you find that your passion for teen moms and the needs of Midlands YoungLives overlap in any way, please do not hesitate to contact us. We would love to stack hands and partner with you in ministry or answer any additional questions!
Mentoring
Mentoring forms the heart of YoungLives. Mentors build relationships with teen moms, offering guidance in matters of faith, parenting and self-worth. This investment of time and heart has empowered positive, sustainable change in the lives of these beautiful families for more than 20 years. Mentors are required to have a relationship with Jesus, spend 2-3 hours per week with teen moms and their babies on weeks we don’t meet for Club or Campaigners, come to club once a month, come to Campaigners once a month, attend mentor meetings once a month, and provide transportation to and from YoungLives events. Additionally, a mentor can choose to attend a monthly parenting class held in the high schools we reach out to.
Committee
The committee’s purpose is for its members to share ownership of the ministry with the YoungLives local staff and volunteer leaders. The committee is the foundation for a successful ministry as each member commits to praying, strategizing, funding, evaluating, networking, and growing the ministry alongside the local staff and volunteer leaders. There are varying levels of committee membership. Some committee members will attend meetings, support the ministry financially in some capacity, attend a ministry event once a year, help put on the spring fundraiser and help within their specific area of committee membership.
Childcare
We are always looking for volunteers who get excited about holding babies, because, man, do we have a lot of babies for you to hold! Our childcare workers are a key component of our ministry, allowing us to focus on presenting a fun, memorable experience for our girls that invites them to know Jesus deeper. We are looking for childcare volunteers to serve at club, bible studies, our spring overnight and we take a handful of childcare workers to camp with us for one week during the summer. Meals
One of the ways we get to display the extravagant care and provision of Christ to our teen mom friends is by helping to provide for their physical needs. Our hope is that at every event moms and babies will be fed a great meal. It doesn't need to be anything fancy, but we believe eating a meal together is important and is a catalyst for building community. If you (or your small group/coworkers/friends) are interested in bringing and serving a meal at YoungLives (currently around 30 people) please click this link below!
