More than 20 years ago, Young Life answered God’s call to run headfirst into the chaos of teenage motherhood with the hope of Jesus... and YoungLives was born! YoungLives has never wavered from the original vision to reach teen moms by entering their world, modeling the unconditional love of Christ, and encouraging them to become the women and mothers God created them to be. Through Young Life’s time-tested methods and life-on-life mentoring, teen moms are empowered to make positive choices, set and achieve goals, and live a future rooted in Christ.

A Time-Tested Approach

Young Life began with a few simple ideas about sharing the truth of God’s love with adolescents. Those simple ideas have become time-tested methods for reaching out to middle school, high school, college students, and teen moms in friendship and hope.

Caring for Kids — Contact Work

Because teen moms don’t care how much you know till they know how much you care, YoungLives mentors show they care by going where teen moms are, meeting them as they are, believing in who they can be. Within YoungLives we call the persistent going out into the world of teen moms “contact work.” But they just call it friendship.

A Party with a Purpose — Club

Once a month, YoungLives club provides a place for teen moms to come together to have fun, build friendships and hear a message about real life and God’s love. Food, activities, music and childcare are a part of every club meeting.

The Best Week of Their Life — Camp

Teen moms can attend a YoungLives camp with their children at one of Young Life’s camps. Set in beautiful surroundings and packed with adventure, young moms are given the opportunity to experience all the fun their peers do. From the pool and zip line to the ropes course and the pamper pole, there is no shortage of excitement. During camp, the young women get a break from their everyday schedules — thanks to childcare volunteers who look after their children. Teen moms get the chance to relax, play and learn about God and His plan for their lives.

Adults Who Care — Committee

YoungLives is making a difference in the lives of teen moms and their children around the world because we are supported by adults who care about teen moms in their community. For every talented Young Life staff person there is a team of dedicated mentors who works directly with teen moms. In each community, the local “committee,” comprised of parents, Young Life alumni and civic leaders, provides a foundation of financial, administrative and moral support for the local YoungLives team.
